Raphael Nagel, EXANTE’s Partner, has been present in the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Spain held the past May 10 , 11 and 12 at Montmelo. It was a good opportunity to invite our best customers , meet people and develop new relationships.

In that race, what Fernando Alonso did to win the Grand Prix of Spain is only available for the best. Not just the how, but also where. Until that race , nobody had won in Montmelo starting the race behind the third place. The Spaniard did it starting in the fifth position.

Schumacher had achieved so far the largest comeback to win in Montmelo , coming 3rd in 1996 , but that day the rain helped.

To understand this and so there is no doubt that Alonso ‘s victory is the most successful in the history of the Catalan track in Formula 1 , its enough with reviewing statistics. Since 1991 when Spain began to receive the grand prix, in Montmelo achieving pole was always synonymous of victory. Except – five times and including 2013 which is the sixth – always won who first came out grill.

The above five exceptions were Sebastian Vettel ( 2011) , Mikka Hakkinen (2000 ), Michael Schumacher (1996 ) , Damon Hill (1994) and Nigel Mansell ( 1991). All but the ‘ Kaiser ‘ , won starting from the second position. Schumacher did it starting in the third position, which so far supposed the biggest comeback in Montmelo.

However, that victory of the seven times world champion had the ‘help’ of water, which made that just six drivers ended the race, which gives even more merit the triumph of Alonso this year , since his comeback was completely dry and with just three outs.
